Restoring forests, supporting the environment.

Planted Promise, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, purchases former forestland in order to restore endemic trees and supportive species.

Our mission is to restore threatened ecosystems, pull carbon dioxide out of the environment, and protect native fauna from increasing pressure on historic habitats.

Our Approach

We start by identifying land where old-growth forests once stood, but have been cleared to make way for development. We purchase the land and plant the types of trees that once flourished there, promoting a return of native flora and fauna.

A Sustainable Cycle

We continually monitor and maintain the trees we plant, with the goal of getting the trees to full maturity, typically in ten to twenty years, depending on the species. At that point, the trees will be harvested for use as cross-laminated timber, a sustainable and permanent way to sequester the carbon captured by the trees over their lifespan. Then, we plant again, and the cycle begins anew.

Who We Are

Our board and leadership team are a diverse collection of professionals, including teachers, lawyers, and students, all committed to taking sustainable steps to improve the planet.

While we cannot plant enough trees to solve the current climate crisis, nature-based solutions clearly have a valuable role to play in the fight to save the planet.
